If, like me, you enjoy learning about climate through the lens of art, and you happen to be in Los Angeles this fall, you are in for a real treat. The Getty’s sprawling PST ART initiative includes more than 70 regional exhibitions focused on the theme of art and science, with many of those shows considering climate change. I’ve seen two of them so far – Brackish Water at CSU Dominquez Hills and Life on Earth: Art & Ecofeminism at The Brick – and both made a strong impression on me. I walked away from the show at The Brick, for example, reminded of how narrow our definition of “solutions” is when we only consider new technical innovations.

Even though most exhibitions are up at least until the end of the year, it’ll be nearly impossible to get to all of them. At the top of my to-see list: From the Ground Up: Nurturing Diversity in Hostile Environments at The Armory and Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice at the Hammer. You can peruse all of the exhibitions on view that address climate change by clicking on “theme” then “environment” on the PST ART website. Further sorting can be done by region, and even by shows with free admission.

Happy looking!
